A COVID-19 (coronavirus) Update

From Your Din Tai Fung Family

June 12, 2020 - Arcadia Store 1 Permanent Closure - to be added tomorrow, 6/12

We have made the difficult decision to permanently close our first U.S. location, Arcadia Store 1. Din Tai Fung has always been a family-owned restaurant. We first opened this location 20 years ago to introduce Taiwanese cuisine, culture, and our signature Xiao Long Bao to our guests here in the United States. Since then, through the gracious support of our community, we have been able to share the Din Tai Fung experience throughout the West Coast. This year marks the 20th anniversary of this location, making this decision all the more heartbreaking.

We sincerely thank you for your loyalty and support over the past 20 years. We look forward to continuing to serve you at our Westfield Santa Anita location.

May 29, 2020 - Our New Safety Standard

The safety of our guests and team members continues to be our first priority. As we reopen our dining rooms, we have implemented significant changes to reflect that sentiment.

Here is our new safety standard.

FACILITY UPGRADES WITH YOUR SAFETY IN MIND

  • We are Marked Safe® certified. The Marked Safe® System is a COVID-19-compliant, EPA-approved process that disinfects every area of our restaurants to clinically clean standards. All Marked Safe® chemicals are proudly made in the USA, NSF-certified for use on food contact surfaces, and approved by the EPA as Hospital Grade Disinfectants.
  • We clean and disinfect all high-touchpoint surfaces with CDC and EPA-compliant cleaning products after each use or at least every 30 minutes.
  • We are upgrading all of our air filters to MERV 13.
  • We have placed hand sanitizer stations throughout the restaurant.

CHANGES TO OUR STEPS OF SERVICE TO REDUCE CONTACT

  • We are reservation-only with limited seating to promote social distancing.
  • We require all members of the party to be present before seating to comply with government requirements: maximum of 6 guests per party for CA locations, and 5 guests for WA and OR locations.
  • We have placed all tables 6 feet apart from adjacent tables.
  • We promote social distancing using clear floor and table signage.
  • We have separated our dine-in and pick-up queues.
  • We have digitized our picture and bar menus so you can view them by scanning our QR codes.
  • We are now fully cashless and have contactless payment available.
  • We have individually packaged all of our tableside condiments. Additional condiments are available upon request.
  • We will continue to offer contactless delivery and pick-up options. Bags are safely sealed for take-out and delivery orders.
  • We require all guests to wear face coverings or masks if required by local health guidelines.

SCREENING AND EDUCATING OUR TEAM MEMBERS

  • We conduct wellness screenings and temperature checks at the beginning of each shift.
  • We require all team members to wear face masks and gloves at all times.
  • We require all team members to wash their hands in line with CDC guidelines.
  • We train all team members on COVID-19 topics.

We will continue to update our safety standards in line with further guidance from the CDC and local health officials.

We thank you for your trust and look forward to welcoming you back soon.

March 16, 2020 - Transition to Take-Out and Delivery,Select Stores Temporary Closures

In light of recent events, the state and local government have mandated that all dine-in restaurants transition to takeout and delivery only.

We are trying our best to keep as many locations open as possible so that we can support our team members by providing consistent income and continue to give our loyal guests happiness in difficult times through our food. At the same time, we are following all government recommendations to ensure we do our part to protect the most vulnerable from the public health crisis in our communities.

The following locations are open and have transitioned to take-out and delivery only:

March 13, 2020 - A Message From Your Din Tai Fung Family

Preventative measures we have implemented to protect against COVID-19 (coronavirus).

Din Tai Fung takes pride in our exceptionally high standards for cleanliness and food safety and is known worldwide for our quality of food and preparation.

We care deeply about the health of our team members and guests. In an abundance of caution, we have implemented the following preventative measures. We will also be updating our preventative measures in line with further guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), and local health officials.

We are taking serious precautionary steps in addition to our usual detailed cleaning and sanitizing routines throughout all of our restaurants. Some of our operational changes include:

    • Increasing our already-rigorous handwashing requirements for all team members.
    • Reinforcing detailed cleaning and sanitizing of all contact surfaces, including handles, screens, tables, chairs, menus, and pens.
    • Using high-grade sanitizers and cleaning products with 70% alcohol at all locations.
    • Limiting cross contamination among guests by providing condiments to our guests by request only and ensuring that they are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized after every use.
    • Providing all guests with the option to pack leftovers themselves at the table.
    • Providing the option for disposable containers, utensils, and straws, whenever possible.
    • Promoting social distancing by seating guests with as much distance as possible between tables.

We have also implemented advanced preventative measures to promote the health and safety of our team members. Some of these measures include:

    • Implementing daily bodily temperature measurements and health tests with rigorous requirements to be eligible to work.
    • Enforcing travel bans to countries deemed to be high-risk.
    • Requiring 14-day quarantines as recommended by the CDC.
    • Training all employees on potential symptoms and providing clear reporting requirements.

We will also promote social distancing by continuing to keep our online ordering and delivery services available and may limit seating.

We will revisit these preventative measures as necessary during these evolving circumstances.

On behalf of our thousands of hard-working team members, we thank you for your trust and look forward to sharing our world-famous xiao long bao experience with you.
